Thanks, Joanna ji.
I could not find any image or specimen on net for Ranunculus jacquemontii Riedl except for Flora of Pakistan illustration.
I pursued 'Srivastava SK (2010) Revision of genus Ranunculus L.(Ranunculaceae) in India. Taiwania 55(3): 273-314'. (I have sent it to your mail ids separately)
As per description and illustration here, I find it closer to Ranunculus munroanus J.R.Drumm. ex Dunn. Also see POWO and GBIF.

Sir,
According to its location, size and visible plant parts it looks like Ranunculus hirtellus besides this some more similar species are Ranunculus brotherusii, R. pulchellus available in Ladakh.
With kind regards.

Looks different from specimens of Ranunculus hirtellus at POWO and images at
Cloest I can go is Ranunculus lobatus Jacquem. ex Camb. as per GBIF specimens (one)
Also see

I'm most grateful for all this help. What it has taught me is that trying to identify from photos on the net is impossible since clearly many are misidentified.  Same name attached to different images and vice versa.  Also I showed this to a botanist friend recently and thereby learnt that my photograph does not clearly show any of the features required to make a clear identification.

But from all I can read and see on the net, I do not think it is Ranunculus munroanus, so I think we should remove this ID from the flowers of India website.

So I fear until we see it again and can get better, more comprehensive, images we should perhaps just keep it as Ranunculus sp.!

Happy New Year to you all.

all the best and many thanks for all your help. It has been a wonderful learning experience.
Joanna

Hello,

I think it is Ranunculus trivedii (formerly R. lobatus), but I am not 100% sure.
