Tree pictures sent by somebody from his backyard in Bangalore. He
says, the fruits seems to be edible as boys around my house pick them
to eat, the pulp is sticky and the seed is round.

This appears to be Cordia dichotoma.
The leaves shown in the closeup is ovate whereas in Cordia dichotoma it is more roundish.
Still I think this is Cordia dichotoma which matches most of the characteristics.

We had such a tree in the government house allotted to my father in
Mhow, Dist Indore, MP where we lived from 1969 to 1972.

If I remember rightly the locals used to call it 'Gondi' and we used
the pulp of the fruit to stick labels and make scrapbooks. The local
boys used to eat the fruit.

Pradip Krishen in his book TREES OF DELHI also identifies Cordia
gharaf as 'Gondi'.
