If you buy the kamela/kamala/senduri powder (red glandular coating of fruits) from local markets, i am sure you will be buying 'brick powder' too. Yes the latter is commonly adulterated to the former. How will you know? simple, put some powder in a cup of water, the kamela powder will float and the brick powder will settle down. So ensure the source is authentic and reliable.

With regards

Vijayasankar

Dear Vijayasankar ji,
a great set of information and also a simple organoleptic study which can help us to avoid spurious item. One such is the common black pepper where the dried seed of ripe papaya is used as a adulterant which can be separated in same way by putting them in water where the pepper settles down but the papaya seed floats above.

Not entirely true Tanay ji. Light black pepper will also float.
However the surest way is to note the shape of the seed. Papaya seeds
are normally not round. They are slightly oval along the axis.
Regards
Yazdy.
