Wild Herb captured on 13/8/10 during the trek from Ghangaria (around 11,000 ft.) to Hemkunt Sahib (around 14000 ft.).

Seems like Saxifraga brachypoda to me.

Stems simple, Leaves linear-lanceolate, shining, stem-clasping, sepals acute, flowers golden yellow: I think Pankaj ji s right S. brachypoda.

Leaves with spiny toothed margin is one unique character.

Rigid leaves with spinulose margin are found in the the whole section Spinulosae with at least four species in FBI from India.

I don't have much literature with me here so I rely on mostly FBI and Flora Simlensis carried in my hard disc here and eFloras plus net for most conclusions. I am aware of the fact that lot of species have been added, names changed, which can't be found at GRIN or other nomenclature sources on the net.

online. I remember going to office at mindnight for this book once...
