Barleria buxifolia L.

Family: Acanthaceae

It is mostly found in dry and arid areas.

Beautiful picture!
Senthilkumar, is it Barleria buxifolia var. mysorensis or just
Barleria buxifolia? I would like to know if anybody knows the
difference between the two?

Dear Tabish Ji,
Hopefully there are some difference in the spine structure , number and orientation.
Barleria mysorensis was previously known as Barleria bispinosa .
But not sure about the fact

I think it should be Barleria mysorensis B.Heyne ex Roth rather than Barleria buxifolia L. as per images and details herein.

Barleria mysorenisis is glandular-pubescent; spines normally 2 per node, where as it is not glandular in B.buxfolia, spines 2-4 per node

Thanks Lalithamba ji for providing the key characters for identifying the species. Very helpful . Nevertheless, what is the final ID of the plant.

These plants are very common in this part of Mysore region.
