This picture taken in Manali on 23.9.08
I assume this one as Rhodhodendron, please give correct ID if I am wrong.

it is not rododendron but Dhalia sp. fron Asteraceae.

This appear to be Dahlia. Classical Dahlia flower form. Long flower stalk. Notice the leaves in the background lower right. Probably in front of a high wall.
