This misleading photograph shows only one pinna of the radiate frond of Pteris wallichiana.  If a close up had been provided one would also see the anastomosing vein beneath each inter-segmental sinus.

May I sugest a visit to BSD (Botanical Survey of India) herbarium, Dehra Dun, to study and learn ferns. That is what herbaria are there for.
