Kindly help me in identifying the unknown tree species observed in the tropical forest of Imphal East, Manipur.
Images of the leaves and early fruiting stage are attached.

Dear Garg ji,
Maybe a species of Ligustrum. Kindly match with those in Manipur Flora.

I guess Ligustrum confusum Decne. is the correct ID.
Thank you

It looks other than Ligustrum  according to the fruit shape.

Thank you

Dear Members of Indian Tree Pix,

VanakkamGreetings from Ankleshwar, Gujarat!

This group truly feels like a forest of wisdom — brimming with members who are passionate experts and keen observers of plant life. It is always inspiring to see the depth of knowledge and visuals shared here.

I have been invited to speak to school children on “Trees as an Ecosystem”, with a special focus on Indian tree species and how a single tree quietly supports an entire world of life.

In that spirit, I am shamelessly reaching out to ask if anyone might have a well-designed presentation, visual narrative, or illustrative material that beautifully captures a tree as a small ecosystem by itself. Such a resource would be immensely valuable in helping young minds see trees not just as plants, but as living communities.

Grateful in advance — and always learning from this wonderful green collective.

Thank you.

With kind regards,

ramjee

Here's one slide from a recently delivered lecture at the "Goa institute of Management" on Cognitive tools to troubleshoot human lives and this particular slide draws parallels around how tree cognition sits at both the top as well as bottom of the food chain that may not be really pyramidal as promoted traditionally in a structural manner but functionally it's more likely to be circular with strong circular feedback loops!

More here: https://medicinedepartment.blogspot.com/2025/11/visual-4-what-is-intelligence-gim.html?m=0 with many more TLDR links inside to the entire lecture that may not be relevant to your needs.

best,

rb
