Dear Garg ji,
It does appear to be Cinnamomum. The various spp are very similar vegetatively. Whether C. tamala or C. zeylanicum can be determined easily by chewing the leaves (the un-taxonomical method!!).
If the leaves taste like tezpatta it is C. tamala. However if it tastes like 'dalchini', it may be C. zeylanicum or even C. bejholgota.
Regards

The bark is aromatic.  The roots which also aromatic and pungent, used to collect by local people. The Mizo name for this tree is Thakthing. This tree was identified by some people as Cinnamomum verum.
