When plucked in tea gardens, a low bush to 1.5m or less. If allowed to grow, an erect shrub to 5m or more,
with solitary white flowers.

Syn: Thea sinensis L. Sp. Pl. 1: 515. 1753.

Type: Lectotype = "Tsja" in Kaempfer, Amoen. Exot. Fasc., 605, 606, 1712
