Id by Bala Subramniam ji is correct.  It is a common weed in Bangalore and Mysore.  Also found near a wasteland nearby my house.

Garg Ji,
Gomphrena celosioides and Gomphrena serrata are shown as two different Species in Flowersofindia.
That was the reason for my confusion.
