Ipomoea hederifolia L. Syst. Nat. ed. 10, 925, 1759; Almeida, Fl. Mah. 3: 325, 2001; Singh et al, Fl. Mah. St. 2: 463, 2001.
Synonyms: I. angulata Lamk., Tabl. Encyclop. 1: 464, 1791. I. coccinea sensu Curtis, Bot. Mag. t. 221, 1793; Cl. in Hook.f., Fl. Brit. Ind. 4: 199, 1883 (non L., 1753).

the flowers are orange-scarlet, hypocrateriform, 3-4 x 2 cm across on 0.5-0.8 cm pedicel.
Native of Trop. America, Moluccas, West Indies and India, naturalized in some places.
