Kindly identify this herb photographed on the sandrasi meadows along the trail to Manimahesh at the altitude of about 3600 metres, in June 2017.
This was only one of the 15 or so species of wild leafy vegetable gathered for
saag that day by the chef of dhaba we stayed at there.
The sandrasi meadows have an amazing biodiversity but it is sad to see the damage done by pilgrims in the litter and plastic spread out everywhere and the ever-spreading concretization of the meadow to make dhabas langars and so on. We went there in June, with no pilgrims or tourists there as such, the main fellow-walkers were the people setting up infrastructure for the pilgrims whose main season is in August when the
mela is held there. The locals told us initially that we should visit during the
mela for the
raonak but later they told us to not come during the mela since it was a huge mess, to say the least.
