Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn wild population in a pond near Mysore, Karnataka, The fresh flowers are offered to Hindu Lordess Lakshmi/ Durga maa, The dried petals are commercial pharmaceutical ingredient, nice aroma is distilled from the petals in commercial scale, the rhizome of lotus is cooked. Lotus seeds and leaves also used in medicine. Some commercial cultivation of the lotus plant is also happening.
