Please Id the tree. Photos taken in Mysore on 6.8.2019. Could this be Aleurites species.

For me it is  Aleurites moluccana.

google search shows two types of leaf shape

photos from reputable sources on google search " Aleurites moluccana leaves"

one set of opposite shapes :

one type is from auroville botanical, seems authentic

and another from dr starr who i respect

now my question are there two variations to this same species????

or one is immature, another older ?

if so your tree should show both types?

the younger and the older.

questions questions

may be some one who has experience in this nut can tell us?

Usha Di madam,

Thanks  for your excellent  analysis on the subject.  I fully agree with your doubts..  I have been   pondering over the same  doubts  . I consulted  one of the  botanists here,  who helped me here and  familiar on local  trees ID .  I put the same questions : Biodiversity of leaves within the species ?    But  not able to get a convincing reply.    I have not observed the  flowers during the season.  I am hopeful of  getting a  convincing comments from the scholars of this group on the ID of the tree.

Unfortunately, many of my postings to the group  remain unidentified (properly) !!!

May be the two  leaf shapes  represents two different species of trees which are called Indian walnuts. 

but are scientifically distinct.

Just like many of the Acer family leaves...

some can be typically maple leaf in its variation, while other Acers can have simple oblong or ovate or elliptical.

but their fruits are distinctly winged fruits.

they are all called maples with different leaf shapes and are different species.

etc etc.... i am sure there are many such examples in nature.   I cant think of one right now.
