Hi all,
shot this huge tree near Kanheri Caves,  on the way to highest point at SGNP ( Sanjay Gandhi National Park), Mumbai. I don't know what is it commonly known as in Local Marathi Language.

Regards

Hi, Rajesh ji,
I think it's called Kandol or Karu in Marathi.
From Indiantreepix Database:

Lovely shot, Pravin ji.
" The specific name means stinging in reference to the hairs on flowers."

Hi, Anand ji,

"I was told by the guide at Kanha National Park that it is so called
because the white bark gives a ghostly appearance in the moonlight.

Deepa. "

From Pravin ji:

"Hi,
Sterculia Urens is a tree with white bark
during  night time it looks brighter on dark background
as a someone  is standing  like ghost in the forest ,so it is
called Ghost tree.
May I right  ?
Thanks. "

"Hi Deepa & Pravin,
Spot on! Thanks for answering the question.
                  Regards,
                    Neil. "
