In Tamil It is not Nagai. it is Naval.

My reference:
நாகை¹ nākai, n. < நாவல். Jamun plum. See நாவல். Loc.

At that time, while compiling, mistook நாவல் nāval for generic name of all kinds of jamun (plum)

In Malayalam it is known as Njara pazham or Njaval pazham

CUMINI ends with an 'i' hence it has to be name of a person. Cumin
happens to be a surname too.....
