Dear all,

Attached are pictures of leaves of two trees. The pictures labelled as P.marsupium are form a large tree outside my farm. The pictures labelled as comp are side by side pictures of leaves of the lage tree and the tree that I had posted pictures of earlier as species 3 in my earlier mail.

The leaves of the two trees seem diffrent to me, but I'm not sure.

Need your help

Thanks

Hi Dr. Juwadi,
If it is the same tree you had posted before as Species 3 [attached photograph] then it looks like Pterocarpus santalinus [Red Sanders]. The first 3 photographs here are indeed of P.marsupium [Bibla].
                  Regards,
                    Neil Soares.

Dear Dr. Neil,

Yes, it is the same tree (the leaves in pictures labelled comp 1 and comp 2). At first look the leaves of both the trees looked very much alike, but on a closer look they looked a bit different, the pattern on the lamina, consistency, even the shape looked different.

My only doubt was because P.santalinus is not known to occur in this part of A.P, and alos because the trees on my land are not planted.

Dear Pranay ji,
I is suggestion from me to write the complete binomial of the plant one in the text , later abbreviation can be used or else it becomes very much confusing for all . Hope you cherish my suggestion.

Regards
Tanay

Dear Tanay ji,

Sorry for the confusion. Reattaching all the pictures again.

Pictures 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d were pictures that I had send in my 1st mail. Taken from a tree in my farm.

Pictures P.marsupium 1, P.marsupium 2 and P.marsupium ID were sent in the following mail; the 1st two are from a large tree just outside my farm and the last one was taken in my farm of a smaller tree. The leaves of these two trees seemed diffrent from the one labelled as species 3a,b,c,&d.

Pictures Comp 1 and comp 2 are side by side pictures of the leaves of the trees labelled as species 3 and P.marsupium.

I hope I did not add to the confusion.

Thanks for the suggestion.
