Hello friends,

I do not know this tree.
Found it at Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, at about 500-750 feet, Jan 11, 2009.
Any clue OR ID, please.

Regards.

Dear friends,
Could it be Java Plum (Syzygium cumini )? The buds look like it so
does the leaf. The stem too resembles one.
Please refer http://okeechobee.ifas.ufl.edu/News%20columns/Java%20Plum.htm

Hello Yazdy, I thought (and think) these flowers are tiny, not as large as that of jamun.
Nor have I seen such sight of a S. cumini tree.
But I wont stress on my view ...

Regards.

Dear Dineshji,
You may be right. The flowers though in your pictures are buds. I am
not sure myself. However, I have seen wild varieties of these fruits
and in these wild trees, the fruits and flowers are both small. I am
in any case not very sure.

Thanks Garg ji for re-surfacing this ID request.

Dear friends, I am now believing this to be Olea dioica; such trees are abundant at Matheran; also found similarity to a great extent with respect to leaves and inflorescence; especially the tiny vermillion coloured spent flowers.
If you think this is not O. dioica, please revert.

Regards.
