OK, thanks, got it now.  It's a Thelypteris - but I think probably not T. arida, but T (Ampelopteris) prolifera - not so hairy as T. arida, and has little proliferous buds on the rachis at some of the pinna-bases?

All very abundant and well known species including in Kolkata.
