The tree in question is not Markhamia.

To me, it appeaars more like Spathodea campanulata, but I couldn't find any yellow variant in any of the references.

I do believe this is the same "form" of Markhamia lutea commonly sold here in Florida, USA.

It appears to be different than the "forms" available in California, USA, which have larger flowers usually splashed or lined with red in the throat. The "splashed" species was originally sold as M. platycalyx; the "lined" form was sold as M. hidebrandtii (M. hildebrandtiana).

I'm not a botanist, but the lumping together of the three "species" into M. lutea has indeed created much confusion, especially in the US nursery trade.

I will try to post some pictures of the three "forms" soon.

I have two old shots on my Webshots pages of the (possibly deceased) tree at Willis Harding Park in Miami-Dade County, Florida:

There is also one growing in a parking lot near my house, I will get some flower shots next time it blooms. I don't recall whether it is striated or not.

Thanks, Kenneth, Barry, Satish ji.
For confirming the Id of Markhamia lutea.
I think the pictures posted by Vijay from Delhi are of Pink Trumpet Tree (Tabebuia impetiginosa).
