Dear Raghuji,

I think Daemonorops is a correct choice.

However, I've forwarded the photos to Mr. Senthil Kumar of ATREE,
Bangalore who is working on Rattans of India. He is also an eFlora
member. Waiting to hear from him.

Regards,
Ritesh.

This is certainly not Daemonorops crinita but with the information sent I cannot say exactly what it is - I would need to see a climbing stem - and, of course, inflorescences would help!

Thanks, Henderson ji. Yeah, it's in SW India:
Agumbe (Kannada: ಆಗುಂಬೆ) is a small village located in Shimoga district, Thirthahalli taluk in the Malnad region of Karnataka, India. It is sometimes called "The Cherrapunji of the South" after Cherrapunji, in Northeast India.[2]
