PLANT NAME IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES
English  : Periwinkle
Hindi  : Sdabahar
Malayalam : Nithyakalyani, Shavakkottappacha, Ushamalari
PLANT DESCRIPTION
An erect annual herb grows up to a height of 1meter. Leaves deep green oblong or obovate, flowers in cymose, axillary clusters, deep rose or white in color, fruits cylindrical follicle.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES
Plant pacifies vitiated pitta, kapha, diabetes, hypertension, leukemia and malignancy, the root is stomachic and tonic.

The pink one is MOSTLY NOT ACCEPTED BY HERBAL MEDICINE FOLKS AS
MEDICINAL....ANYWHERE ....

Most likely most of the Allopathic drug companies use all colors and
types of this for vincristine ( and other med) isolation...

Not strictly an Ayurvedic herb...
not in Charak or Susruta...'s writings...
AM not sure if Todar Mal in AKbar's court included this in his
compendium of Ayurvedic Medicines and Indian foods and vegetables

I personally do not know the history of this inclusion in AYurvedic
medicine...

ALTHOUGH IT IS PART OF THE MODERN HERBOLOGY ALL OVER THE WORLD>>>
