Cercis siliquastrum from Kashmir, one of the very beautiful flowers with cauliflory, the flowers appearing in a line from the old woody branches. A well trained tree and a good gardener can give it an excellent shape. There used to be one tree in a Bank on Residency  Road. Now many trees are planted in Gardens. This one from newly developed Hazuribagh Garden, photographed on June 16, 2010.  The flowering period had perhaps ended, and the plants showed only fruits.

Common name: Judas tree. There is a longstanding myth that Judas Iscariot hanged himself from a tree of this species.

Yes Sir Ji.. from far off the plant looks vibrant pink in color during flowering season.
One the most vibrant trees.
