Dineshji, what about the size of flower? If this is about 5 cm, then
this can be Dillenia bracteata, yet a close up of flower would have

Shrikant ji. the size of the flower could be about 30 to 35 mm across.
Offering the lame and usual excuse of low light and ... the flowers were at a very great height.

For me the tree looks like Gordonia obtusa of Theaceae. This is
commonly seen in konkan and western ghats. Common names - Kannada :
Mallangana mara, OlaKannada: Nagatta; Malayalam: Atangi, Karikkova,
Kattukarana. I think the bark is used for catching fishes . I am
sending the photographs taken by me in western ghats in a separate
mail as there is no option to attach photos to this mail.
