Saroj,
I think this intermixing of images is due to changing synonymy of the two species. Earlier P. atrosanguinea was considered to be a variety of Potentilla argyrophylla (Potentilla argyrophylla var. atrosanguinea). So, if one is not going to the level of subspecies, one would treat images of both as Potentilla argyrophylla. Flora of China has given the distinction between the two:

1 Petals, stamens, and styles yellow.   56a var. argyrophylla
+ Petals basally, stamens, and styles purple. 6b var. atrosanguinea

In my understanding, P. atrosanguinea has red flowers, and P. argyrophylla has yellow flowers. It is also obvious from the etymology: atrosanguinea means dark red.
Meanwhile the image of P. atrosanguinea on POWO shows a pink flower, and is probably P. nepalensis.
The photos of P. argyrophylla on POWO should all belong to P. atrosanguinea (not the herbarium images).
You should also know how images of live plants are added in POWO and GBIF - images are commonly taken from iNaturalist. But quite often an image gets wrongly identified on iNaturalist by more than one person, and is marked "Research Grade", and qualifies to be added to POWO/GBIF. So, images of live plants on POWO and GBIF should be treated with caution.

Yes, Tabish. That is the most confusing parts. Some pictures and herbaruim images are uploded wrongly in databases which creats confusion. I have written to GBIF for many wrong pics and herbarium images for correction but they reply it is the respncibility of the person uploading the images, not the databse organisation. Surprising.

Thank you.
