... must be Citharexylum spinosum (syn. Citharexylum fruticosum, Citharexylum quadrangulare) ... native of the West Indies ... commonly known as: the fiddlewood tree, spiny fiddlewood.

This unidentified herb is 'Heracleum pinda', photographed on hill top of Kadachadri on 2.10.2010.
Sri K Sampathkumar, identified it. It is referred in Flora of Shimoga district by Radhakrishna Rao et al.
This has been recorded in the hills of Harishchndragad and Harsar in Maharasthra.
For the first time it is recorded in Karnataka by Dr Radhakrishna Rao.
White -flat-weak hairs is one of teh characters in the above species to distingush from H. rigens.

Found at high altitudes in Western Ghats (of Maharashtra), more familiar with it being known as Pinda concanensis and Heracleum pinda as its synonym ... not sure which has become the current name.
The genus name / epithet is derived from the regional name पंद pand in Marathi ... other common names are Konkan pinda, Konkan umbellifer.
