Dear All,
This month, me and my wife got a wonderful opportunity to visit Kerala, with one of my colleagues and his family...!!
It was intended more to be a family fun together rather than a Botanical visit, and whatever I could add to my flower basket has to be a bonus...!!
Besides making a lot of beautiful memories of the places I have visited, I could feel the real peace and beauty of the landscapes, waterscapes of Kerala, the essence of natural ecosystems...!!
During this about two week long tour, the most worthwhile events have been meeting with my efloraofindia friends.
My tour started with having a pleasant meeting with Dr. Sunoj Ji at University of Calicut. His warm and cordial welcome added the first pleasant flavors to my visit. Despite being on a high key position in the university, and no time to spare, he not only accompanied me to the heritage Botanical Garden of the university, but went on to show me every accessible corner of the UoC botanical garden. Though it rained incessantly, we enjoyed the walks through green and lush corridors of the garden, exploring it to our satisfaction...!!
Sam Kuzhalanattu Ji kept in constant touch with me even before I started from Panipat, and he was fully prepared to personally meet me in the Munnar region. When he decided to visit me, something unavoidable came up and he has to defer his travel. In the same way, I somehow could not manage to stay for one more day. So, we could not personally meet despite best of our desires. Although, Sam Ji remained very very helpful to me throughout the tour and ensured that I do not face any kind of trouble there...!!
With him being there, I thought I can stay comfortably wherever planned..!!
Before the tour approached the end, I was surprisingly contacted by Giby Kuriakose Ji (I must admit that I had not thought about it, kind of forgotten his native place).
And, I am happy that due to his personal efforts, we spent many hours together, shared some insights to our research works, enjoyed a bike ride through the beautiful and historical city, Kochi. The most pleasant moments came when I visited Giby Ji's institution, Sacred Heart College. It has been a great opportunity to meet the PG students and faculty of the Botany Department along with having a campus tour.
In every sense, I enjoyed my visit to the fullest. I really came to know why it is known as "God's own Country."
Thanks a lot Sunoj Ji, Sam Ji and Giby Ji for turning my days into beautiful bits of memory. For all the warmth and cordial support.
Thanks eFI, for creating a wonderful network, where the members are all supportive and encouraging. Enclosed are a few pics of the meetings, please..some more in reply message..!!
