This is the fruits of Diospyros blancoi A.DC. (syn.D.buxifolia Dunn.) EBENACEAE.

The image was taken from the 'Edible fruit plants conservatory' of JNTBGRI, Palode, Trivandrum. It is a large evergreen tree, native to the Philippines, commonly known as 'Velvet apple. The tree is chiefly cultivated for its edible fruits.
