Hi
a snap of China rose taken at Narendrapur...
it seems to be a hybrid variety.

there is one species of China rose that grows in the wild in Narendrapur and south 24 parganas...the flower is crimson, with rough papery petals, and the corolla is very narrow.
We call it Lonka Joba in Bengali...because it resembles the red chilly in shape and colour.
Lonka is the Bengali term for Chilly...and Joba for China rose.
I will post the pics of that flower soon....

Shantanu ji, beautiful hibiscus.  In our area China rose is Chini gulab or Office time (Portulaca).

Regards,

Mani.

Beautiful flower.
I love jabas too and there are many varieties available in Greater
Noida, UP, where I live.
But I haven't seen anything as beautiful as the one you have shown.
thanks

This flower is better known as Jabakusum, and is used for making hairoil which is available in shops.
Jaba is also a favourite flower os Shakti (Durga or Kali). May be it is because of its blood red colour. In Hindi we call it gudahal.
