          I am reposting my query.I had by mistake chosen the wrong option for attachments.Sorry for the inconvienience.Kindly identify the plant.Locals call it "ghotvel".I think it is Smilax ovalifolia.

It does look like Smilax, but leaves are required to confirm id.

            The fruits were seen growing on another tree and it was difficult to distinguish the leaves.My impression is that the leaves were not large.I shall shortly post the tree( on which some other fruit were seen) .But the locals have identified as "Ghotvel" for sure.

Smilax is a climber and the leaves seen in the picture are not of the climber. As Vijay said without leaves it is not possible to come to a conclusion on species of Smilax.

           I have posted some more pics for better identification.As you can see there are other dark fruits on this treeand their were only one type of leaves.

The last 3 pictures are of Olea dioica and others are fruits of species of Smilax

I think may be more closer to Smilax ovalifolia Roxb. ex D.Don rather than Smilax zeylanica L. (based on the relative size of the umbel and pedicels therein)

Internodes are much longer to S. zeylanica.
