Nilgiris: Shola tree for identification 051112MK02

Dear all,

Please help me to identify this short tree species found in the Shola (Temperate Montane forests). The height is not more that 2.5 metres and branched profusely. Is this any Myrtaceae?

Leaf: 15 cm long

Fruit: 0.75 cm

I agree with Navendu that this must be a species of Lasianthus.

Flowering branch would help in species id.

To me it appears close to Lasianthus venulosus (Wight & Arn.) Wight, as per GBIF specimen.

Pl. confirm or otherwise.
