I think its some member of Verbenaceae....
because the flowers resemble Lantana flowers to some extent.

Lantana salviifolia to be precise, with double "ii". Does this have a
eucalyptus type smell. I remember seeing similar plant during my field
work, but it had white flowers and very strong Eucalyptus smell.
I just checked. Fl. Brit. India, 4: 562. Hooker had one more variety,
Lantana indica var. albiflora. May be thats what I have seen.
Thanks for the id Shrikant Sir.
Regards
Pankaj

Hi Pankaj ji...
i forgot to smell the flowers of the shrub...
but the species was new to me. I have never seen it in my locality.
But there were many such plants in that abandoned field of Basuldanga
village...
the species of Lantana which is generally found in and around Kolkata
is L.camara with clusters containing small flowers of different
colours.
I would post pics of other interesting shrubs soon...

regards
Shantanu : )

Dear Shantanu,
You are always welcome to contribute the pics. I always intend to add
some more information to whatever is added here and of course correct
if there is any information which is wrong. Shrikant sir is one of the
respectful persons I have known (not personally yet).
I was surprised to find this plant all of a sudden inside our own
colony where i have spent my whole life and I knew the id, but the
colour confused me a bit. Lantana though a small group interests me a
lot, because one species is a havoc whereas other species like this is
so rare......why so..... I have no answers yet.
Thanks for sharing, I love all your contributions, as a member and as
a person too.

I think Lantana camara subsp. aculeata and not Lantana indica as per images and details herein.

On further checking, it appears to be Lippia alba and not Lantana indica as per images and details herein.
