Last year I had posted withered flowers of the same plant from the same location (I am starting a new thread for clarity) and now I have the fresh flower. Dr Rawat had suggested M. aculeata and I agree with his ID. I am wondering if the plant bears white flowers (there is a slight blue hue in the whites) too and whether it could be another similar plant. Please advise.

Meconopsis aculeata?

Beautiful pics of Himalayan Blue Poppy. Habitat of this species is well illustrated in first image. I this it is M. aculeata only. Colour of flowers is truly reflected here and dark blue is never seen by me in Uttarakhand.

I walked up yesterday to Ilaqa (3300m) to look for bluer blue poppies and was rewarded with these. The light was low after a heavy shower and I could only manage a few photos.

Thanks, Ashwini ji.
These brought memories of my trip to VOF and Hemkund Sahib,  where I clicked these. Whether was exactly same.

Thank you Mr. Garg. Now I know that the colour varies from pale blue to bright blue to pink. I will share pictures of a pink flower I photographed last year soon.

Warm regards,
Ashwini

Ashwini-ji,
Did you find different coloured flowers in the same population or in different populations?
I was wondering if it is due to the soil conditions (i.e. are the colour changes a plastic variation or genetic variation).

Regards.
