Hi,

Can anybody help me distinguish between Mussaenda and Schizomussaenda? Are these pictures of Schizomussaenda?

Thank you and warm regards

Schizomussaenda with single species S. henryi is very distinct in lanceolate to ovate lanceolate leaves, long acuminate narrow calycophyll and dry fruit.

This is some species of Mussaenda, probably M. frondosa

Hi, Nancy ji,
Where did you click?
Last three images appear to be of a cultivated plant.
Last three images are of Mussaenda flava (POWO gives Pseudomussaenda flava Verdc. as the accepted name and it is introduced in India) as per
https://toptropicals.com/catalog/uid/pseudomussaenda_flava.htm
https://garden.org/plants/view/115760/Dwarf-Mussaenda-Mussaenda-luteola/

Plant for ID3.jpg and Plant for ID4.jpg were clicked in a home garden in Bangalore - This does look like Pseudomussaenda flava.
Plant for ID2.jpg was clicked in Thrissur, Kerala, growing in the wild - This looks like Mussaenda frondosa, but it didn't have any fruits.
Plant for ID1.jpg was sent to me by a friend in Kerala - Not sure if this is Mussaenda frondosa or Schizomussaenda henryi, but again there are no photos of the fruits.

Warm regards

Are you saying that this is plant above is Pseudomussaenda flava? I don't see any orange flowers on this eflora page, only pale yellow flowers, https://efloraofindia.com/efi/pseudomussaenda-flava/#:~:text=Pseudomussaenda%20flava%2C%20a%20plant%20which,to%20Mussaenda%20glabra%20and%20M.

So I am confused why this would be  Pseudomussaenda flava. Or did you get the names of the images wrong? Please check the names of images in my original email once again.

Sorry to trouble you again.

Thank you and warm regards
Nancy

Sorry, I was talking about the attached image.
Correct wording will be:

Plant for ID3.jpg and Plant for ID4.jpg were clicked in a home garden in Bangalore - This does look like Pseudomussaenda flava..-> Yes
Plant for ID1.jpg was clicked in Thrissur, Kerala, growing in the wild - This looks like Mussaenda frondosa, but it didn't have any fruits.-> No, it is  Pseudomussaenda flava only. Pl. see the flowers.
Plant for ID2.jpg was sent to me by a friend in Kerala - Not sure if this is Mussaenda frondosa or Schizomussaenda henryi, but again there are no photos of the fruits.-> Mussaenda frondosa
