   I am attaching the photographs of Wikstroemia uva-ursi  ( family Thymeliaceae).        A spreading shrub  1 to 2 ft height.  Photos taken at Guindy National park.  Chennai .    Date : Around  2008  August ?   The plant can be  used  for ground cover ( ornamental ) also .

I think this is Wikstroemia indica (as per images and details herein), the only listed species in Flora of Peninsular India and as per POWO.
Wikstroemia uva-ursi is endemic to Hawaii as per POWO and also looks different as per Wikimedia Commons.
