we see this in road sides and in the Shibpur Botanical garden in the rainy season

I found these growing in urban scrub ... untended area of the resort I was staying.
Also found them along road at many places in Pondicherry.
And recently even at Wayanad, in open scrub forests along roads.
Perhaps escape from gardens.

This plant is native to certain northern parts of India I assume, and in rest of India, it is planted as ornamental in gardens. Thus I consider that it may have escaped.
I do not think native plants would behave like weeds. I do not know whether my assumption is wrong, Hope someone clarifies.
