Much more robust plant than var. indica with thicker narrower leaves and longer fimbriate petals; Robust plant up to 1 m tall; leaves elliptic to lanceolate, 3-6 cm long, hairy; flowers in panicles, erect or nodding; calyx inflated, with brownish veins, 12-18 mm long; petals white, reddish outside, longer than sepals by about one third, fimbriate with linear lobes; capsule almost as long as calyx.
