Many thanks, Saroj ji for suggesting another possible ID.
But I am not able to sort among them.
Hoping someone helps validate our thoughts.
Regards.

Many thanks Garg ji.
I visited all the links that you provided. The last one that brings up the BSI document - it was quite overwhelming, so I did not go through it.
Posted plant does look like Hedyotis stylosa R.Br. ex Wight & Arn.

I checked on the internet for any visual features that sets the two species apart; here is what I got:

FeatureHedyotis stylosaHedyotis articularis
Stem AppearanceUsually smoother; internodes are more distinct.Highly "jointed" or articulate appearance; very rugged stems.
Leaf ShapeTypically ovate to lanceolate; broader towards the base.Narrower, linear-oblong to lanceolate; often more rigid.
Leaf MarginsGenerally flat.Often revolute (edges curl slightly backward).
VenationSecondary veins are more visible and spreading.Veins are often obscure or very closely packed.
InflorescenceCymes are often slightly more open/branched.Flowers are usually in dense, terminal capitate clusters.

I think the posted plant agrees well with the leaf shape: typically ovate to lanceolate; broader towards the base AND leaf venation: secondary veins are more visible and spreading.

I am not sure I understood about the appearance of the stem: usually smoother; internodes are more distinct, and the inflorescence: cymes are often slightly more open/branched.

For now I am convinced that the posted plant could be Hedyotis stylosa R.Br. ex Wight & Arn.

Regards.
Dinesh
