Hello friends

Attached are pictures of Stachytarpheta cayennensis captured at MNP in March 2013.

Could someone please indicate the difference between S. jamaicensis and S. cayennensis?

Thanks and regards

difference is in the leaves
but you need absolutely flat leaves like when you put it on ground or a white sheet of paper or make a herbarium , several leaves and from both types and compare

there is a way to differentiate
but it can not be done  it here, no leaf is flat and one that looks flat makes one dx and another that's curving creates doubts.

optical illusion makes the teeth look different in your different leaves
this is  a case where if it pleases you you keep the diagnosis you have
was it labelled by the botanists there?

or label it as Stachytarpheta sp..Alka

Usha di,

I managed to get some shots of the leaves yesterday, attached as pics...
Based on Dineshji's post, this does seem to be S. cayennensis.

Please advice....

Thanks and regards

I will take this as Stachytarpheta indica, as per discussions at Stachytarpheta urticifolia Sims
