... species of Lagerstroemia ... not able to gauge size of the fruit ... if it is about the size of peanut ... then the reflexed calyx lobes (spreading away from the fruit) seen in your photograph suggests L. microcarpa (L. lanceolata) ... please wait for comment(s).

Regards.

Lagerstroemia reginae is now correctly known as L. hirsuta (according to GRIN as well as Hortus Third)
L. flos-reginae is now correctly known as L. speciosa

The leaves are oblong in L. hirsuta and elliptic-oblong and more pointed in L. speciosa. Also the veins are more prominent in latter.
To me it looks like L. hirsuta

Could find this jpeg from Plants of Coromandel. Now please comment
what species is yours. I find my image to be different from the one
shared in the thread.

For the information of those whom I sent the dvd, this reference is
there in it. Please check.

Roxburgh's paintings had a drawback. He had this bad habit of giving a
symmetric look to all the plants. They usually didnt look the way they
look in natural live condition. But no doubts his paintings were
masterpieces for botany. I have this privilege of seeing some of his
original paintings which cant be replicated in another 10000 years!!!

The photograph alone will be misleading  often.  Always one should check the taxonomic characters from the flora/ published data to ascertain the proper botanical name.  Websites may provide an indication of the specie's name  and may not be authentic, as it happens some times.

Please check the characters of the tree in Trees of Delhi.   The differentiation has been given very clearly for Lagerstroemia .  Photographs are often misleading.
