the picture was taken from Mohali in Punjab in the months of moarch i suppose. this deciduos tree is mostly in its vegetative stage but when it flowers only flowers are visible on most of the trees and only a few leaves are there. i have seen some trees with drooping branches also and they look magnificent with leaf shades varying from dark green to light green towards the branch tips.

This is Dalbergia lanceolaria, called as 'Dandus' or 'Pathadi' in Marathi.

Alok--

I don't believe that this is Robinia.

Is it growing in a tropical area? Any possibility of getting close-up of the seedpods?

Possibly Glircidia sepium or Piscidia piscipula ?

Regards--
Ken Greby.

Dear Friends,
This is Gliricidia sepium. Mr. Goyal is right. When the plant flowers,
there is hardly a leaf on it. A lot is written about the tree. My
experience is that the wood is also used for making small furniture.
Regards
Yazdy Palia.

From another thread:
"Dear Yezdy ji & Alok ji,
attaching Gliricidia sepium (= G. maculata) for your reference. hope the id is correct.

In view, I think Vijayasankar ji's Id is correct as Dalbergia lanceolaria for pictures posted by Alok ji in this thread.
