Sir,

This is SAFEDA (SABEDA) tree in Bengali. Edible fruits are smaller than those of cultivated ones.

But i find it difficult to obtain its scientific name. My copy of ‘Plant Grouips’ refers it as Achras zapota in one place and A. sapota in another page. A search in Wikipedia tells me Achras is a rejected name now.

Moreover, the family name given to this plant is ‘Zapotaceae’ in the same book, but it is ‘Sapotaceae’ in the Wiki.

Species : Manilkara zapota L. ?

Bengali name : SAFEDA / SABEDA

Habit & Habitat : Tree, backyard orchard
