May I request this tree ID.

Date/Time-30-May-2009, 3.50pm

Location- Place, Altitude, GPS- Bannerghatta Forest, Bangalore, 

elev 2725 ft, 

 12" 45' 52.63"N,  77"33' 13.99"E

Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type-Wild / Moist deciduous, Rock hills

P

lant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb-Tree

Height/Length-approx - 35 feet

Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- Shape -Elliptic, mucronate,  leaf edge-Wavy, Leave Size -6 inches approx.

Inflorescence Type/ Size-

Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts-No flowers observed

Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds-  Oblong, Size comparable to Java plum fruit

Other Information like Fragrance, Pollinator, Uses etc.- Not observed

Could it be Tree Tomato (Solanum betaceum)?

Dear Raghu Ji,
This can't be 'Tree tomato" i.e. Solanum betaceum becoz fruits of this plant  donot have a beak in them which is seen in your photo. I also think this is Madhuca sp like Neil Ji.

Hi Tanay,
  Fruit are only seen in photograph 6. The 'beaks' you are referring to [which are seen in only a few] are actually germinating seeds.

Dear Neil Ji ,
We have this plant in our colony and I have seen its fruits. I agree with you that some seeds do have this beaks and some dont but i didnt knew that this were germinating seed thanks to you for updating me.
