Dear Vijayasankar ji,
I found one name on the internet in the Tamil script for Strobilanthes neoaspera, which I am pasting here ... வெள்ளைக் குறிஞ்சி.
I think it transcribes to vellai-k-kurinji.

Please help validate the name.
Regards.

Dear Dinesh ji,

It seems that the flower color in this species is variable, from white to pale blue to purple (as shown in the pictures on POWO).
The name வெள்ளைக் குறிஞ்சி vellai kurinji (vellai = white, likely referring to flower color) is appropriate for the pale or white-flowered form, but it won't be accurate and could cause confusion when applied to other forms.

Best,
Vijayasankar

Thanks very much Vijayasankar ji for validating the name.
Shall we coin a name on lines of the English coined name - rough coneflower ?
Kannada and Malayalam names are coined on the same lines.

Thus rough or coarse "kurinji" ?

Regards.
Dinesh
