Thank you for your valuable observation and for sharing the POWO and eFlora of India references indicating that Euphrasia officinalis is not reported from India and that the record may pertain to another species.
However, I would like to draw your attention to the publication Field Guide Flora of Ladakh (2018), wherein Euphrasia officinalis is listed at Serial No. 100 on Page 169 under the family Scrophulariaceae, with its local name recorded as “Eyebright/Kangchuk” and noted for use in eye complaints.
At the same location in the guide, Euphrasia laxa (S. No. 99) and Euphrasia vulgaris (S. No. 101) are also mentioned, suggesting that the authors recognized multiple species of Euphrasia from the Ladakh region.
Therefore, there appears to be a discrepancy between the recent taxonomic databases and the field guide record. It is quite possible that the Ladakh record represents a misidentification, an older taxonomic treatment, or a synonym that requires re-examination in light of current taxonomy. Further verification through herbarium specimens and updated floristic studies would be useful.
