“This is Embelia tsjeriam-cottam, i suppose. E. basaal has fleshy, smooth leaves that taste sour when chewed.
By the way, the nomenclature of the latter species has been well researched by Dr.Almeida and few others. The accepted name for this, as per Flora of Ceylon, is Embelia aurantiaca.
