Dear members,

Observation: 28/03/2023. Riung District, Flores, Indonesia.

Description: It is a tree that can reach a height of 20m and a circumference of 150cm. Its trunk is densely covered with thorns (straight). Compound leaf, spiral alternate phyllotaxis. Hardwood.

Habitus: Common in all dry tropical forest with sea influenced climate. Up to an altitude of 500m (possibly more).

Use: Its bark (bitter) is used as a remedy against malaria.

First ID: Erythrina sp. (from the local name : Wangka / Waké / Wéké – téré)

Photos : A = young tree with leaves B = old tree bark (he can be larger)
