This could be Strobocalyx arborea (Buch.-Ham.) Sch.Bip. ... synonym: Vernonia arborea Buch.-Ham.)

Genus ID help by Arun Kumar N in Instagram for my earlier post.

Quoting Arun Kumar N's comment in Instagram: "One of the arboreal species of Vernonia, now Monosis".

Thus, there could be chances of Monosis wightiana DC.  / Vernonia monosis Benth. ex C.B.Clarke ... both synonyms of Strobocalyx wightiana (DC.) Sch.Bip.

Garg ji, requesting you to take a relook at the links that you have pointed out.

The photos and herbaria show trees in bloom. 

The posted plant is in budding condition therefore looks slightly different. Otherwise the inflorescence matches very well. The leaves match very well.

I put the photos from the post of Strobocalyx arborea (Buch.-Ham.) Sch.Bip. :: The Nilgiris :: Jan 28, 2026 · 9:41 AM IST on Instagram. Again Arun Kumar N commented that it is Monosis coming into bloom.
