Bramha giri forest, Coorg, Lianas loop from tree to tree and cover more than 100 metres.  The hard woody and thick stems appear twisted and seems to be very old.  Because of the dense vegetation, I could not trace the point from where it begins or end.
They give a majestic look to the forest.  Would love to see them in monsoon.

These large tropical climbers are known as 'lianas'. It would be wonderful getting them domesticated and into our gardens because a well trained climber could cover an entire building with foliage and flowers.

I have also come across similar Lianas in the campus of National Institute of Technology ( formerly Durgapur Engineering College ) at Durgapur, W Bengal. They were in profusion, draped over the trees like 4" -6" thick Pythons. ID and Common Name please ?
